Non-Dispersive Ultraviolet Spectroscopy

Accurate. Selective. Proven.

NDUV - Non-Dispersive Ultraviolet Spectroscopy

NDUV, Non Dispersive Ultraviolet Sectroscopy is a well-established measurement principle for the detection of gases that absorb in the ultraviolet spectrum – including ozone (O₃), sulfur dioxide (SO₂), nitrogen dioxide (NO₂), and other photochemically active compounds.

At KNESTEL, we develop robust and high-performance NDUV OEM sensors and analyzers for demanding applications in process monitoring, ambient air measurement, and mobile plasma disinfection systems. Our technology stands for uncompromising precision, fast response, and long-term reliability – in a compact, integrable format.

NDUV operates by passing UV light through a gas sampling cell. Specific gases absorb characteristic UV wavelengths. A UV-sensitive detector quantifies the absorption, which is directly related to the gas concentration. No moving parts, no chemical reagents – just solid-state, maintenance-friendly sensing. Our NDUV sensors are based on modern UV-LED emitters and a drift-compensating reference detector. The optical assembly is fully temperature-stabilized, providing reliable operation across changing ambient conditions. Optional integration of additional sensors (e.g. electrochemical O₂) allows hybrid measurements in a single compact platform.
